How to care for down

Feb 10, 2019

Experience 1: Must wash by hand

On the inside of the down jacket, there is a small label with instructions for maintenance and washing. The careful people will find that 90% of the down jackets are marked to be hand-washed and should not be dry-cleaned, because the syrup for dry cleaning will affect the warmth and the fabric will age. . Machine washing and drying, the down jacket after being twisted, can easily lead to uneven thickness of the filling, making the clothes go shape, affecting the appearance and warmth.

Experience 2: 30 degree water temperature rinse

Soak the down jacket in cold water for 20 minutes, and let the down jacket fully wet inside and outside. Dissolve the detergent in warm water at 30 degrees, then put the down jacket in it for a quarter of an hour, then gently scrub with a soft brush. Rinse with warm water, which can help the detergent to dissolve in the water and make the down jacket rinse more clean.

Experience 3: The concentration of detergent used should not be too high

If you must wash the down jacket with washing powder, it is usually appropriate to put 4 to 5 tablespoons of washing powder on the two basins. If the concentration is too high, it is difficult to rinse. The residual washing powder in the down will affect the fluffiness of the down, greatly reducing Warmth.

Experience 4: It is best to use neutral detergent

Neutral detergents have the least damage to clothing and down. Alkaline detergents are used. If the rinse is not clean, the residual detergent will cause damage to the down jacket, and it will easily leave white marks on the surface of the clothes, which will affect the appearance. After removing the residual alkaline detergent, after rinsing twice, add two teaspoons of vinegar in warm water, soak the down jacket for a while and then rinse, and the vinegar can neutralize the alkaline detergent.

Experience 5: Can't wring out

After the down jacket is washed, it should not be wrung out. The moisture should be squeezed out, then tiled or hung to dry, no exposure to the sun, and no ironing, so as not to burn the clothes. After drying, gently tap to restore the down jacket to fluffy and soft.
